    Three Wheeled Buggies

Whether you’re looking for a buggy run around in or a compact stroller for strolls around the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies offer great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to manoeuvre even in tight spaces.

For a smooth ride, go for a pram with air-filled tyres. Look for models with an swivel wheel that rotates 360 degrees in front. They are, however, susceptible, to punctures. Be prepared with an emergency repair kit.

    Frame made of sturdy material

New figures show that the three-wheeled buggies, that emblem of the noughties, which were more expensive than common sense, are in rapid decline. Four-wheelers have replaced them, and are more versatile and easier to drive, while also looking fashionable.

The principle is that the larger the wheels are, the easier it’ll be for your buggy to deal with rough ground and bumpy pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front enable you to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.

MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy out with a newborn as well as a 3 year old and found that it was able to withstand cobbles, grass rough roads, dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath wrote “it feels sturdy to push and is very stable when you’re on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require occasionally pumping) have suspension built-in that was very comfortable for my kids.

The shape and size of the seat is a further factor to consider. You’ll want it to be large enough for your child’s comfort. You will also require it to recline so that they can lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies offer the option of reclining completely, while others will only allow the parent to be facing one.

The Roma Atlas is a great option for off-road or muddy walks. This buggy can be used as a one-person unit from birth, and then expands to take two children when your family expands. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from birth until age 4, and includes a bumper with a rain cover, an upgraded 5-point harness, and a big cushioned seat. Storage options are also good, with a large basket with zip pockets on the hood and an extra pouch at the rear of seat unit.

    Wheels with a larger diameter

Larger wheels will give your buggy more stability while driving on rough terrain. This is perfect for buggies designed for off-road use. They also help you move the pushchair around tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have rotating front wheels that aid you in maneuvering around tight corners, while others are specifically designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to increase the speed and stability with the speed at which they can be pushed. This is particularly useful when you crash into a tree or a kerb. The front wheel can be lifted slightly to prevent hitting it.

A lot of 3 wheeled pushchairs come with air-filled tyres which allow them to handle a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They are also lighter. They are also more susceptible to punctures, so you will need to have a repair kit and spare inner tubes on hand.

Our top 3-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. Both of these buggies come with larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, “perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles” and can easily move up and down kerbs. They also have a suspension system which, in her words “smoothes out bumps extremely effectively”.

The downside of having bigger wheels is that they make some buggies quite wide and may struggle to squeeze through narrow spaces. This could be a problem if you are using it as a jogger or you need to get through narrow doorways while traveling. Many models have small folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels and store them more compactly.

    Easy to maneuver

A three-wheeler can be more comfortable to drive with children. The way they are built means that the front wheels rotate at a quick pace and are extremely easy to maneuver, making them ideal for difficult terrain such as parks, cobbles and bumpy pavements as well as dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her toddler, and she wrote: “The Terrain is a joy to maneuver in rough terrain. The swivel wheel front was especially useful.” I was also impressed by how well it dealt with bumps, particularly when using the brake operated by hand. It was extremely stable when going downhill or on a rough terrain.”

The only drawback to this great mobility is that the 3 wheel buggy’s bigger wheels sometimes mean it has to be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces – something to be aware of when you live in a urban region. If this is an issue then a four-wheeled buggy might be the better option for you.

    Bumper bar

Bumper bars protect your child from bumps and scrapes while out and out and about. They are easy and quick to install and make your child feel safe and secure while out on the town or on the trail.

This bumper bar is designed to match the sleek lines of the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller. It comes with a soft, padded surface to provide a comfortable surface for your child to grab onto while walking. The sturdy construction and durable design will ensure that your child can take a stroll around town without having to worry about falling out of the buggy or leaning too far ahead.

The sling seat made of fabric sits comfortably inside the frame rather than sitting on top like modular seats. It provides the lowest centre of gravity at the ideal height for your newborn and also delivering great weight distribution for a simple kerb pop (it requires less effort to push the buggy up and over the curb than you think). MFM reviewer Kath found it coped really well with grass and cobbles and is a great choice for jogging due to its lockable swivel front wheel that can be locked and air filled tyres.

With perfect geometry and engineering, as well as weight distribution this type of buggy can turn on a dime and be a breeze to steer using just one hand. All Mountain Buggies meet the same rigorous stability standards and tests as buggies with 4 wheels.

The Sport’s clever design places the sling seat made of fabric inside the frame, instead of over it like modular seats. This lets it have lower center of gravity, which means it is easier to push, has a less weighty curb-pop (you don’t have to exert much effort to push the buggy’s front end over the curb) and also provides better balance and stability. With its massive rear wheels that measure 16 inches, lockable swivel front wheel and tyres with air that require just a few pumps for a bump free ride over rough terrain and a smoother and more comfortable jog.

It’s not the only reason to love this buggy Our MFM reviewer Kath was amazed by how big it is, too. There’s a nimble, large basket that is quite spacious for a buggy that’s this big. Plus, there’s also an excellent pouch on the back of the unit, and 2 smaller mesh pockets underneath the hood to keep your keys and phone.
